The annual muzzleloader hunt was Jan. 3-4 at Proving Ground Farm.
The experience provides a hunter the opportunity to hunt at Proving Ground Farm for one day. The farm is a combination of crop fields, wooded acreage and mixed, herbaceous vegetation that provide excellent deer habitat.
One hunter shared that they did have some encounters with deer, but they were not close enough or positioned to ethically take a shot. While no deer were harvested during the hunt, hunters expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
The hunt was open to all properly licensed hunters who live in the counties of Seneca, Erie, Huron, Crawford, Wyandot, Hancock, Wood and Sandusky. The hunters and the day of their hunt were chosen randomly.
