School Field Trips at Proving Ground Farm
Our experienced team at SCD will guide your students through a full or half day of guided hands-on experiences. All activities are coordinated to grade-level curriculum standards and your students' interests!
These experiences cover many different topics including:
- Plant ID Hike and Hayride
- Explore the Creek
- Meet the PGF Animals (chickens, goats, sheep)
- Mammals
- Farm to Fork
- Bird Adaptations
- Pond Life Cycles
- Predator vs Prey
- Recycling
- Habitats
How to Set Up Your Field Trip
These field trips are free to schools in Seneca County. From there, we will coordinate with you to set a date along with specific programming needs. We will handle all planning and prep. All you need to organize is the transportation and lunch.

Things to Note
- We also offer unguided field trips at the farm. You can plan your own field trip, bring what you need, and simply use the property.
- Field trips are completely outdoors so please dress appropriately - hiking shoes, jacket, hat, sunglasses, etc.
- Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
- Bring any water or snacks that your students might need. There is no running water at the farm. Portable restrooms are available for use.
- Field trips take place in all weather. The only exception would be lightning storms or tornadoes.
